Growing

TBHP

Also written as TBHP (Sharxx Blue × Olivia)

A Cocac line hybrid that never grows the same way twice: it will terminate a head, throw a fasciated section, or run a perfectly normal column, depending on the conditions it is in. That unpredictability is the whole reason people want it.

Nothing off this one is listed at the moment. It's growing in the yard and gets cut when it's ready.

Tell me when it’s cut

When a cutting off TBHP is listed, I’ll email you to say so (if you are not signed in, after you have opened the link I send first). I only have one of most things, so it is first come — nothing is held.

Email me when this is available. I understand this notice is about the plant I asked about, that I can opt out from any message, and that my address is not shared with anyone.

You'll get emails from the yard. Unsubscribe any time.

Over time

Photographed over 38 days — April 2026 to May 2026, on 2 different days.

  1. April 2026

Two folded, crested pieces set out on red bark mulch in flat light, a short fat one standing upright in front with two bright green pups at its foot, and a longer wavy one lying behind it with its ridges packed tighter.
  2. May 2026

A young TBHP column standing in bark mulch with a lumpy offset pushing up on each side of its base, a sprawl of yellow-green growth blurred behind it in hard sun.
A short, thick piece held out in a work glove, its ribs swollen and creased so they run in soft waves rather than straight lines, short amber spines only up at the clustered tips.
Two cut segments laid on a whitewashed board in full sun, a short fat one with broad ribs and almost no spines at the left and a longer darker one covered in brown spines at the right, with a tape measure along the board's edge and wooden toadstools around its frame.
