On its own account the nursery rates the for colour, saying it holds a deeper blue outdoors across seasons than the better-known Australian clones it grows beside it.Reported, but not confirmed.

A second California nursery holds the same collection number, calls the plant a peruvianus and dates its own seedling to seed sown in October 2012. That is a second, independent record of the number being in live circulation; it does not reproduce the collection note, so the account of where the name comes from still rests on one voice.
