Tacaquirensis is reportedly a large, heavily spined grown here under its species name, described reaching about fifteen feet tall and six inches thick.

The longer version

Reportedly, Vaupel described it in 1916 from Tacaquira, in southern Bolivia.

Character

  • nearly smooth to heavily spined: this one leans strongly toward heavily spined, read from the spines line below.
Ribs
Reportedly usually nine or ten, very large, with a deep V-shaped notch between widely spaced .
Spines
Heavy. They reportedly come out red and darken to black, commonly passing two inches, thick, strong and not easily knocked off.
Growth habit
Fat. Reportedly tall and heavy, often reaching six inches across and fifteen feet high.
Notes
Areoles: reportedly white and oval, taking up a lot of the rib, with some over an inch long.
