Field code (accession code)
Growers call it a collector's number instead of a name: initials and a figure, like BK10805.1. The letters are whoever collected the plant, the number is their own record of that collection, and neither tells you anything about how the plant looks, growers say. Names built this way are a different kind of label from a nickname somebody gave a plant they liked.

Every photograph in the yard pages and the shop is of a plant grown here, except where a listing says it was grown by somebody else — it says so on the listing, above the price.
