Ikaros DNA is reportedly not one plant but a seed line collected from wild stands in a single Peruvian valley, so every plant sold under the name is its own , and mature plants share a family resemblance of blue bloom, heavy girth, bright spines and six to nine ribs, not a match to anyone else's.

Reportedly, rib counts run about six to nine, with notch depth varying plant to plant. are reportedly rounded and felted anywhere from pale gray to brown. is reportedly the most variable feature, from short honey-colored spines through to long, stout dark brown or gray ones.
