The longer version

Species: reportedly ; the name is listed among the wholesale labels the trade has used for that species, placing it at Piura in north-west Peru.

The label reportedly came about like this: seed collected at Huancabamba was sold by a New Mexico seed house as a peruvianus under the place name, a handful of enthusiasts grew it out in the early 2000s, the offspring came to be called by the community that grew them, and most plants now in collections under the name descend from the batch a Californian seed house started.

The material it covers is described as coming from Piura, in north-west Peru.
