Three sources agree it parents a great many hybrids and describe it differently, and the difference turns out to be between the name and the plant. Our own catalogue and a San Diego grower's account both call it a selection; the specialist reference that documents it files it as a short-spined bridgesii brought into cultivation by Ben Kamm's nursery. Peruvianus is the name it was distributed and sold under, which is why it persists and why you will keep meeting it; bridgesii is what the plant is, and it is what this yard lists and files it under.Reported by one source, and not corroborated anywhere else.
